Celebration of Women in Film

Since 2010, the San Ramon AAUW has held an annual spring celebration highlighting a movie in line with the values and goals of the AAUW.

In April 2012 at the 3rd annual Celebration, attendees watched the biographical film Temple Grandin, which depicts the achievements of Colorado State University professor Temple Grandin. She has gained world fame for her work in animal science and her advocacy for autistic individuals.

Psychotherapist Beverly Swann, M.A., of Concord also led a discussion among attendees about the challenges that Grandin overcame throughout her life.

Proceeds from the event went to AAUW funds that support women seeking fellowships and grants to further their education and research.
